Music scales basics - Major, Minor, Pentatonic  - with relation to some similar Indian Raga -




WESTERN MUSIC:


Minor scale is sub divided as 

Natural Minor - 3 flats .     3rd , 6th , 7th notes are flattened.  1, 2, b3, 4, 5, b6, b7.

Harmonic Minor - 2 flats.     3rd , 6th flattened. 1, 2, b3, 4, 5, b6, 7.

Melodic Minor - 1 flat.     Only the 3rd is flattened. 1, 2, b3, 4, 5, 6, 7.



Pentatonic Scale : 

Major : 1 , 2 , 3 , 5 , 6

Minor :  1 , b3, 4 , 5 ,  b7 




 Similar  INDIAN RAGA: 

( raga has many more complex nuances, duration and oscillation of notes,  different ascending and descending, phrase repetition, etc)


Raga Darbari : 1 , 2, b3, 4, 5, b6, b7   <-- same as  Natural Minor

Raga Malkauns : 1 , b3, 4 ,  b6 ,  b7   <-- similar to Minor Pentatonic but b6 instead of 5

Raga Bhupali :  1,2,3, 5,6       <-- same as Major Pentatonic
