Om-Bhur =Brahma-embodiment of vital spiritual force (Pran)


Bhuvah-Svah=Destroyer of sufferings-embodiment of happiness


Tat-Savitur-Varenyam=That-bright like Sun-best choiceset


Bhargo-Devasya-Dheemahi=Destroyer of sins-divine-may imbibe (apply to meditation)


Dhiyo-Yo-Nah-Prachodayaat=(prayer to God)Intellect-who-our-may inspire

Meaning:
1: OmThat (Outer World) is Purna (Full with Divine Consciousness); This (Inner World) is also Purna (Full with Divine Consciousness); From Purna comes Purna (From the Fullness of Divine Consciousness the World is manifested) ,
2: Taking Purna from PurnaPurna Indeed Remains (Because Divine Consciousness is Non-Dual and Infinite).

 त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे
सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम्
उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान्
मृत्योर्मुक्षीय मामृतात् ॥


Om Traymbakam Yajaamahe 
Sugandhim Pushti-Vardhanam
Urvaarukam-Iva Bandhanaan 
Mrytyor-Mokshi Maa-Amrutaat ||

Meaning:
1: Om, We Worship the Three-Eyed One (Lord Shiva), 
2: Who is Fragrant (Spiritual Essence) and Who Nourishes all beings.
3: May He severe our Bondage of Samsara (Worldly Life), like a Cucumber (severed from the bondage of its Creeper), ...
4: ... and thus Liberate us from the Fear of Death, by making us realize that we are never separated from our Immortal Nature.

Meaning:
1: Om, (O Lord) Keep me not in the Unreality (of the bondage of the Phenomenal World), but lead me towards the Reality (of the Eternal Self),
2: (O Lord) Keep me not in the Darkness (of Ignorance), but lead me towards the Light (of Spiritual Knowledge),
3: (O Lord) Keep me not in the (Fear of) Death (due to the bondage of the Mortal World), but lead me towards the Immortality (gained by the Knowledge of the Immortal Self beyond Death),
4: Om, (May there be) PeacePeacePeace 
(at the the three levels - Adidaivika, Adibhautika and Adhyatmika).

As the Jewel is within, which opens up like a Lotus flower, opens up with a thousand petals...

 Lotus usually grows in shallow ponds and mud but is spectacular bright and colorful and gives a feeling of opening up.

To protect the righteous, to annihilate the wicked, and to reestablish the principles of dharma I appear on this earth, age after age.

Whenever there is a decline in righteousness and an increase in unrighteousness, O Arjun, at that time I manifest Myself on earth.

sadāvasantaṁ hṛdayāravinde
bhavaṁ bhavānīsahitaṁ namāmi ||
  • karpūra gauraṁ – The one who is as pure/white as camphor (Karpur).
  • karuṇ āvatāraṁ – The personification of compassion.
  • sansār sāram – The one who is the essence of the world.
  • bhujagendra hāram – The one with the serpent king as his garland. (bhujagendra = sepent)
  • sadā vasantaṁ hṛday āravinde – Always residing in the lotus-like heart. (Aravind = lotus)
  • bhavaṁ – To the Lord
  • bhavānī sahitaṁ namāmi – Accompanied by the Goddess Bhavani (A form of Goddess Parvati, Shiva’s consort), I bow
